The Village of Hope in Kiev, Ukraine
Camp Alkulana in Millboro Springs, Virginia
Derbyshire Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia in partnership with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Virginia is hosting a 5K fun run on Saturday, September 9, 2017 to raise funds for children in foster care at the Village of Hope in the Ukraine and for camp scholarships for inner-city children to attend a summer camp giving them hope and love.
Sponsorship support is needed. All net proceeds from the race will be divided equally and go directly to The Village of Hope and Camp Alkulana. There are several sponsorship packages offered and our hope is that you will select a package that best fits your business needs. Your sponsorship of the RUN DBC 5K will help us in “fostering hope” for children in the Ukraine and in the United States as we raise support for the Village of Hope and Camp Alkulana.
The Village of Hope is a foster care facility that offers hope to street children and helps the children who want to move off the streets. The Village of Hope is located in Kiev, Ukraine and is a partnership with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Ukrainian Baptists. There are 4 million people in Kiev. Of that 4 million, several thousand are children between the ages of 3 and 16 who live on, in or under the streets of the city. This ministry is led by Gennady and Mina Podgaisky, field personnel with CBF. This ministry has also been a focused emphasis for CBFVA for the past year. Derbyshire has two members who will be traveling to work at the Village of Hope in May. See http://www.cbfnc.org/missions/village-of-hope- for more information.
Camp Alkulana offers summer camping experiences for low-income, at-risk children and youth of the Richmond area. The mission of the camp is to reveal God’s love with the hope that the children will come to value themselves and others. The camp is a located in Millboro Springs in Bath County in the Allegheny Mountains of Virginia. Campers enjoy the boundless space and endless resources provided by the George Washington national Forest. Cave exploring, hiking and swimming have been popular activities with the campers. The camp was started in 1915 and has been in continuous operation since it began. The camp is a ministry of the River City Faith Network, whose primary partners are Richmond Baptist churches, camp alumni and other individuals. See www.alkulana.org for more information.
