Every week the children will meet with our music teacher. The children will enjoy learning new songs and will be introduced to rhythm patterns. The children will present a musical program for their families during the year.
The children will regularly attend Chapel, led by Betty Vitek, Derbyshire Baptist Church member. A Bible story, song and prayer are part of this worship experience.
Our resource teacher will meet regularly with all classes for special learning activities which will include science experiments and an introduction to the computer.
During the year, the children will learn about good health and the importance of exercise in creative movement classes.
Several field trips are planned during the year for our four-year-olds and Pre-K. Three-year-olds do not go on field trips. Parent volunteers help transport the classes and are always welcome to join us!
DNS uses the award winning Handwriting Without Tears program developed by occupational therapist Jan T. Olsen. This program incorporates fun hands-on activities to develop a foundation for good writing habits. The children will also enjoy programs at DNS from outside groups. These include puppet shows and educational groups such as Mad Science.
In the fall, a Harvest Day family picnic is held on the playground. Mothers and fathers will be honored at special celebrations in the spring.
