GENEROSITY
"Whosoever sows generously will also reap generously..." (2 Corinthians 9:6)

INTRODUCTION:
Derbyshire members practice generosity - the willingness to share unselfishly - at incredible levels. In 2007 alone, we gave over $53,000 beyond our church budget to special missions offerings. Members have placed the congregation in their wills, contributing to a growing endowment; and this provides resources for not only ourselves, but more importantly, for others. Generosity is a deep value for our congregation, and that is an encouraging picture for our future.
CHALLENGES:
- We do so many good things for others that we risk losing focus on our missions and ministries. We can do outreach in a variety of ways, and maintaining a balance is essential for a healthy Christian life and the development of a subsequently healthy church.
- Christian stewardship is much more than giving money. It is also dedicating our time, energy and imagination to God. Stewardship calls us to give our lives and resources with glad hearts and willing hands. Maintaining this spirit of willingness is crucial to the servant attitude we strive to hold.
- We must not focus on any single demographic, but instead reach out to new audiences and all ages with our missions and ministries.
THE HOPE OF KINGDOM VISION:
Kingdom Vision offers a path for the members of Derbyshire to be generous in many ways; however, fulfillment of the spirit of Kingdom Vision rests with the willingness and commitment of each member to reach out and get involved. Every task or project, no matter the size, requires the participation of individuals willing to give of themselves to the work of God's Kingdom. Reach out and offer yourself to meeting the challenge that Christ Jesus presented to us in the living of His life (Matthew 20:28).
