Keith Smith, Pastor

Keith Smith has been pastor of
Derbyshire since June 2000. He came from Charlottesville, Virginia,
where he was senior minister of University Baptist Church at the
University of Virginia. He previously served other congregations in
North Carolina, Indiana, and South Carolina.
A native of Belton, South Carolina, Dr. Smith graduated from Clemson
University, and received his M.Div. and Ph.D. degrees from The Southern
Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
In addition to his pastoral ministry,
Dr. Smith continues to be involved in the academic community. He
serves as the director of the Richmond site of the John Leland Center
for Theological Studies, where he teaches systematic theology,
philosophy of religion, and courses in practical ministry.
He is married to Beth, who is a grief minister and educator. She directs the Robert Scott Aronson Grief Ministry at Derbyshire. Dr. Smith and his wife have two grown sons, Matthew and Daniel.
In his spare time, Dr. Smith reads serious theological books, exercises through long-distance running, and enjoys the classic rock and beach music of the late sixties and early seventies.
